The CAA’s suite of Safety Sense Leaflets cover a range of subjects from winter flying to balloon airmanship. Following the success of the Skyway Code, in 2021 they began a revised series that reflects the latest guidance and best practice for General Aviation pilots.

02/03/2026 SW2026/055 Electronic Conspicuity Technical ConOps consultation response published
The CAA has published its response to the consultation on the Electronic Conspicuity Technical Concept of Operations (ConOps).
The document summarises feedback received and explains how responses will inform future work on Electronic Conspicuity.
In parallel, the CAA is progressing work on the potential implementation of a UK wide Electronic Conspicuity mandate. A public consultation on the mandate is planned to launch later this month.
Exemption to allow in certain circumstances the issue and renewal of an aeroplane class rating on a National Private Pilot’s Licence (Aeroplanes) without the passing of an NPPL General Skills Test.

This webinar, delivered by a panel of experienced instructors and examiners, will focus on planning and preparation to help you perform to your best and avoid those common first flight back errors.

16/02/2026 SW2026/044 January 2026 UKAB INSIGHT newsletter now available January’s edition of AIRPROX INSIGHT features an Airprox between two Cessna 152s at Leeds East airfield – one established in the circuit and one joining from a long final. The article discusses the limitations of operating at airfields served by an Air Ground Communication Service, and discusses considerations for, and the potential pitfalls of, integrating into an occupied circuit using techniques other than a standard overhead join, including possible additional information calls that could be included or requested.

26/01/2026 SW2026/022 - New Met Office visualisation service - The Met Office is introducing Met Office Aeronautical Visualisation Service (MAVIS®) – the new integrated, regulated aviation weather platform. Legacy Met Office aviation services will retire 24th March 2026.
MAVIS is now operational, providing a single, comprehensive platform for METARs, TAFs, weather charts, and interactive map layers. Aviation Briefing Service, HeliBrief, Network Weather Resilience and OpenRunway users should start engaging with MAVIS to ensure a smooth transition.
To support this transition, the Met Office is hosting webinars on 17 February at 11am and 23 February at 3pm. Sign up today!
