Vertical Aerospace Unveils Valo, the UK’s eVTOL Air Taxi

Bristol-based Vertical Aerospace has revealed the production version of its VX4 electrical Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft, named Valo. The company is targeting certification for 2028 and aims for airliner-level safety standards. The Valo is designed to fly up to 100 miles at speeds of up to 150mph with zero operating emissions. The initial configuration will feature four passenger seats, with the potential to expand to six. Early commercial routes are expected to connect airports with city centers.

LAPL Recency Requirements are Changing

AOPA UK has announced that changes to the recency requirements for Light Aircraft Pilot Licence (LAPL) holders are being implemented. While compliance is not mandatory until 1st October 2026, pilots can transition to the new requirements early. This is part of the broader Licensing and Training Simplification project.

LAA Issues Safety Alerts for Eurofox and SportCruiser Aircraft

The Light Aircraft Association (LAA) has issued two important safety alerts this week. Alert A-14-2025 highlights an issue with a disconnected fuel line in-flight on a Eurofox aircraft. Alert A-13-2025 warns of nose-leg failures on the CZAW SportCruiser. Owners and operators of these aircraft types are urged to review the alerts and take appropriate action.

AAIB Report Highlights Dangers of 3D-Printed Parts

An Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) report has revealed that a UK plane crash in March 2025 was caused by the failure of a 3D-printed component. In response, the LAA is planning to issue an alert to its inspectors regarding the use of 3D-printed parts in aircraft, emphasizing the importance of verifying their origin and material composition.
